Government of Canada: Balanced Copyright
The Atlantic Publishers Marketing Association (APMA) represents Atlantic Canadian trade publishers, many of whom are also members of the Association of Canadian Publishers (ACP).
A statement outlining the position of ACP members in regard to the introduction of the Copyright Modernization Act, and proposed solutions which could satisfy Canadian publishers’ concerns about the fair dealing exemption, which could prove damaging to the revenues of small‐ and medium‐sized publishers and, ultimately, to their viability, can be found here.
The APMA supports the position put forward by the ACP and hope that the simple amendments that they propose can be implemented before this Bill becomes enacted.
The APMA is looking forward to the long-awaited modernization of this important Act, and the positive impact that it will have on reinforcing respect for the rights of Canadian creators and publishers.
